The Pampered Rat News!
My place to post about news pertaining to our own pampered rats, the website, and other exciting news!

So life has gotten in the way of creating fun and new things for the site! I am a college student and I work full time at a vet hospital - plus all my ratties - so life is busy! I have decided to scale back the items on the site to include only hammocks, which was the whole reason we started the site to begin with. I simply don't have the time to make all the other items but I still want to give our ratties a nice place to sleep :-) Look for discounts to come on the site to clear out merchandise!

I hope all the ratties out there had a very pampered holiday! I spent my holiday in Oklahoma visiting family and missing my own rats. But they were certainly in good hands with my grandma, she's as devoted to the rats as I am. I'll be back home and working hard on new projects tomorrow! For 2008 Pamper Your Rat has some good ideas we've been brewing, including new hammock styles and other items for your rats! We're also in the process of creating some cute ideas for Valentine's Day! I'd like to thank all of our supporters for helping us get up and running thus far this year, and I look forward to 2008!

We were dealt a hard blow the day before I'm set to leave town. My sweet hairless dumbo Geisha came down with very aggressive pnemonia very suddenly and ended up having to move on to bigger and better things. I was crushed to have to make that decision as it's always a hard one, but in the end it was what was best. She is sorely missed and loved even more.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Whew! We're ALMOST done with all the Holiday Shop items! I've got only 2 more shirt designs to make and then I'm all set! We've had a terrific time coming up with our new items, and we're very smitten with them - we hope you are too!
Our girl Storm had a mass surgery on Tuesday and it's been a difficult recovery for her, but we're hoping she bounces back soon enough. The vet thinks the recovery is going slowly due to her age (she was estimated at nearly 2! I had thought her to be much younger), but we're just trekking along with her.
My mother begged me last week (11/14/07) to take in some rats from her friend. Apparently her friend had gotten them for her daughter, who wasn't being responsible for the rat's basic needs. So I agreed, and we now have Crystal, a black berkie, and Tinkerbell, a himi. They're sweet girls who are really appreciative of having food and water available all the time, and a clean cage! They've also quickly learned how great our hammocks are!

We have been BUSY!! The holidays are coming, and with that Pamper Your Rat has been working hard to come up with cute new items for the holiday season. We're super excited, we have several already made and a few more creations to bring to life! Look forward to our Holiday Shop, opening soon!

Boy have we gone though some experiences, both good and bad, this past month! In October we sadly lost three of our babies, Ravin, Gambit, and Apricoza. They all had terminal illnesses, and were spoiled right up to the very end.
We also finished our Halloween Photo Contest, and several of you entered some adorable and great shots! Thank you to Cris for taking up the task of judging :-)
We're gearing up for Christmas! Now that Halloween is SO over, it's time to start thinking about the holidays! Pamper Your Rat is currently creating some unique and fun holiday items that will hopefully bring delight to many of our rat owners out there!
And in my Yahoo Groups I've decided to yet again run the Secret Santa. If you belong to any of the Yahoo Groups I'm a member of (Chattie Rattie, Holistarat, Ratlist, Rat Fan Club, BayRats, RatWorld, CaliforniaRats2, Chattie Rattie2) then please feel free to enter! This activity is ONLY for those who are in the Yahoo Groups :-)
The mischief is doing well, they had a great Halloween photo shoot with their own Pirate Mountain!
10/11/07
Still a work in progress, but I've uploaded several shots of my own Pampered Rats on their Halloween costume - PiRATe Mountain! I made it using a toy mountain that I painted with child-safe paints to give "texture," added some pirate stickers and other pirate props, a skeleton backdrop, a plant for some greenery while the rats are playing pirate, and then the rats! Voila! You can check out their slide show at the My Halloween Ratties page.
After being prompted by a homework assignment, I've now started the "Fun Rat Stuff" pages where I'll list books, movies, and showcase all the rat related items I have. Please check it out, and if you don't see a book or movie on there that I should check out to add to the list, please email it to me. It is a big work in progess, so right now the lists are small, and I know they can and will grow!

After becoming more familiar with the web designing aspects of this program, and figuring out what I want the site to do and how it should function, Pamper Your Rat has now gone through a major site overhaul. I hope to be finished soon and hope that all this work makes it easier to navigate around! Part of this new design is having the Pampered Rat News, where I'll post any updates and exciting information pertaining to our little corner of the rat world.

The Siamese that were up for adoption have decided to move no further and are staying here as permanent residents in our mischief. We've got a lovely bunch now, including 1 PEW, 1 b/w hoodie, 1 beautiful blue dumbo, and 5 Siamese. Names are being worked on, and hopefully pages about these characters, and all my rats, will be up and running soon!

I was called by Yolo County Shelter to see if I could take in 4 rats. Unable to resist I picked up 1 boy and 3 girls. The boy found a great home with a friend, and the three girls are here to stay. Apricoza is an apricot hooded with head tilt who now lives with Sweetpea, and Elphaba and Glinda are a b/w hoodie and a beige hoodie respectively. They are all very very sweet and I'm glad I decided to get them!

Another bit of sad news to report, as our beloved Kairi has become an angel. She was Rikku's constant companion and after Rikku's passing wasn't the same. She went very peacefully, and gave me the best birthday gift (Aug. 6th is my b-day) by staying with me all day.

Today we were dealt a sudden and suprising blow with the passing of our big boy Diego. He had a rough bout of pnemonia that came quickly, and even though we worked very hard with the vet, he never showed any improvement. He's sorely missed by all and his brother Maverick most of all.

My heart aches to say that Rikku passed away yesterday. She was my Pudgy Princess, and a source of much joy and inspiration in our home. A memorial page for her will be put up shortly.
We are now accepting PayPal!
There is also a photo contest going on - see the contest page for what you can win and for how to enter :-)

We've sold some hammocks already and THANK YOU to those of you who are giving my small website a growing chance!
We've added 2 new purses and 1 tank top to our merchandise list! Go check them out - they're all unique and made with care and quality!

Brand new to the world of website designing, this is my first attempt at a webpage. If you have any suggestions or questions, please contact me!
Right now we're just selling hammocks, but look for our store to expand soon to include more fun items for your rats, and for you!
